The Band Nerd
Growing up, I was the quintessential “band nerd.” I loved music, art, and expressing myself creatively, but to my peers, that made me an easy target. I’ll never forget the day a popular football player turned around and asked me out. For a fleeting moment, I felt noticed. But then he smirked and said, “Just kidding, I’d never date a loser like you.”
That moment broke something in me.
I spent years hating myself, believing my worth was tied to how others saw me—or didn’t see me. I felt invisible unless I was the punchline of a cruel joke. High school was a blur of self-doubt and longing to fit in, but it wasn’t all dark. I found my true friends—people who loved my passion for art, who saw the real me beneath the awkwardness and insecurities. They reminded me that I had value beyond the judgments of others.
The Powerful Change in me
Fast forward a few years. After picking up a camera and shooting everything from weddings to portraits, I stumbled upon boudoir photography. I wasn’t sure if it was for me, but then my best friend, newly divorced and feeling lost, came into my studio. She was nervous, unsure, and vulnerable—but she trusted me.
We laughed, we shared stories, and I saw her begin to relax. After her session, we looked at the photos together. Tears streamed down her face as she whispered, “I’ve never felt this beautiful before.”
That was the moment I realized how powerful this could be.
I realized boudoir photography isn’t just about capturing someone in a flattering pose or perfect lighting. It’s about helping someone see themselves in a way they may have forgotten—or maybe never knew was possible. It’s about reclaiming power and rediscovering self-love in a world that often tears us down.
Yup, thats me at my own session!!
So many of my clients share a story like mine: being made to feel less-than, unworthy, or invisible. They’ve been told their value depends on their looks or how they fit into someone else’s expectations. And every time I hear those stories, it reinforces my mission: to help women see their beauty, strength, and worth—inside and out.
This journey has taught me as much about myself as it has about the women I photograph. I’ve learned to love my own body, to embrace the imperfections that once made me feel small. More importantly, I’ve learned that my worth isn’t defined by how I look or how others perceive me. It’s defined by my kindness, my creativity, and my passion for helping others feel seen.
Through boudoir, I’ve found a way to turn my pain into purpose. Each session is a chance to create a space where women can feel celebrated, confident, and radiant. To show them that their beauty isn’t about meeting anyone else’s standards—it’s about embracing the unique, powerful person they are.
